Facet Reflectivity
This Women’s Ready to Wear collection was inspired by gemstones and scintillation, the intense sparkle created when the gemstone is moved back and forth. The Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals at the American Museum of Natural History showcases large gemstones in varying shapes and colors and was the starting point for this collection. Minerals and rocks are formed with specific crystalline structures which are enhanced when cut with facets. The facets reflect back a prism of colors when light hits the surface. The sparkle of color we see is called fire.
This collection explores the colors seen when looking at gemstone fire. Facets and mineral structure inspire the motifs while the Dada Movement influences the motif layout of the prints in this collection.
All patterns are hand drawn and painted with dyes and gauche.
